So many choices.....

One of the biggest challenges this far into the game has been choosing our travel trailer. Although we are not even close to purchasing one yet, the research has been interesting to say the least. Since this is going to be our home for a while we want to make sure that we explore all of the different trailers and floor plans that are available. With the trip consisting of just me, my wife, and our pug we do not need a trailer that has tons of beds. The bunk house option is one that we have basically ruled out. We can use the space typically designed for larger families to have more living space. This shouldn't be a problem as there are several floor plans available that will accommodate us. Another option that is somewhat intriguing is building our own rv. I am fairly handy and am sure that the construction portion will be no problem but to take that route would be a huge undertaking that I'm not quite sure I want to tackle. One of the things that I have noticed with the production rv's is the materials look to be more for the family that goes out for a weekend instead of someone making this a home. I may be a little overly concerned about this but being a home inspector I see a lot of everyday homes that are poorly built and do not want to end up in a poorly built trailer.

Looking forward to the trip!

Ever since my wife and I have decided that an rv trip across country is what we really wanted to do it seems to be all I can think about. I spend every available waking moment either looking through an rv sales ad or reading posts on tips for rving. I haven't been this excited and nervous about something since I was really young (17) and decided to move to another state on my own. The thing about this trip that really excites me is that there are so many things that are unknown to us. I know that reading all of the "how to's" kind of takes away from that but I'm sure there will be plenty to learn on our own. I just think that taking advice from people who have been there is a little wiser than being stuck in a situation that could have been avoided. It's gonna be an adventure like none other that we have experienced.

Welcome

Welcome to our new rv blog! This blog was built for the purpose of learning new things about rving. My wife and I are planning to go on an rv trip that will last for several months or more depending on how everything goes. We will be blogging about the entire trip from the planning stages (which is where we are now), to the rv purchasing, and so forth. I am hopeful that this site will help provide us with answers to questions that we may have as well as help others who are in the same boat as we are.
